![]() ![]() Medium Tractors are the best vehicles for operating a Front Loading Arm. When using these tools, a Medium tractor can complete its fieldwork a lot faster than a Small tractor would. The engine of a Medium Tractor is powerful enough to operate medium field Implements, or a couple of small Implements simultaneously (e.g. Medium Tractors are a significant step up from Small Tractors in many different ways, mostly thanks to their powerful engine and increased stability. ![]() The Valtra T Series, a typical Medium tractor. Overall, Small Tractors gradually become obsolete as you get the money to buy larger Tractor models. Driving carefully, and attaching a Weight to the back of the Tractor, can help mitigate this problem. Nonetheless, it's important to remember that a Small Tractor is a very light vehicle - they tend to tip over when lifting heavy cargo, or when making sharp turns while carrying such cargo. ![]() With an arm installed, a Small Tractor is a relatively decent choice for Animal Husbandry work. Most Small tractors can be fitted a Front Loading Arm, allowing them to move cargo and Pallets. Even a Car should be able to out-perform a Small Tractor when towing. Even the smallest tipper, when fully loaded, can pose a problem for a Small Tractor. Small tractors are technically capable of towing Tippers and Loading Wagons - but again, only the smallest models. These small Implements are really quite small, and take a lot of time to process even a single small field. Almost every type of Implement (such as Sowing Machines, Cultivators, Mowers, etc.) includes at least one model that's small enough to be carried and operated by a Small Tractor. Small tractors are not really suitable for fieldwork, since they can only operate the smallest Implements. Most scenarios give the player at least one Small Tractor for free to start with, and more can easily be bought early on. Their low cost is pretty much their only advantage over other tractor categories. ![]() Small tractors are the cheapest and weakest of all tractors. The New Holland T5 Series, a typical Small tractor. Therefore, tractors can be split into rough groups to show which tractors are suitable for which jobs. A tractor's horsepower determines how much weight it can pull comfortably, and therefore what Implements it can operate and what Trailers it can tow. In other words, the game is great as long as you are doing what you are supposed to, but get off that track a little bit and holes start to form.Tractors differ from one another mostly by Horsepower. In the midst of this we also managed to flip the mower over, and an errant corner led to a tractor being on its side, with no way to right them other than run over them in other vehicles (with no damage to either) until they got back right side up. So, we shoved the truck back out of the water to find we couldn’t get back in it. This led to some silly time as we pulled a tractor over to see if we could help, and found we could drive underwater just fine with the warning on-screen. We got a warning to not drive in deep water, and were ejected from the vehicle. A river runs through the map, and handing my controller to my son for a few minutes with the loose controls led to my truck careening into the river. This turned the idyllic twisty roads into a bit more of an annoyance than anything else. I frequently find myself off roading, with little to no consequences for the most part. When running to town in the pickup, I feel the speed and control are a little too loose for the twisty Alpine roads. Whilst farming, the tractors are serviceable enough and control well. Even then, as I said before, if you want to work the fields efficiently you’ll have plenty of equipment to buy first. The four-wheel drive and such are good for maneuvering the hilly landscape but the low horsepower involved means you may end up vying for some old favorites to navigate larger fields. Fans of the series will enjoy these new additions to their farming arsenal.
